We are just one month away from celebrating our favorite community event —
MONTE NIDO’S 4TH OF JULY PARADE AND PICNIC!
We look forward to gathering and sharing good times with new neighbors, who are getting their first taste of Monte Nido, and past residents, who come back to enjoy what makes this place so special.
Stay updated on our website: montenido.org (You will need to register for access.) and learn how you can participate in the festivities. ~ We always welcome general volunteers to help with everything from slicing watermelon to playing music or joining the clean-up crew. This year’s parade theme was inspired by the 2023 super bloom: FLOWER POWER. If you’ve never seen what Monte Nido’s homemade parade can look like or you’ve forgotten how creative the entries can get, there’s a great video of past parades and float ideas on the website. Let’s up our game and make it bloom!🌻
We’re going back to the basics this year…. It’s actually going to be a PICNIC.🍉 Bring a blanket, pack your own basket or potluck with neighbors and friends. It’s a great excuse to make deviled eggs and to eat potato salad. We’ll provide water and watermelon for free. And, of course, there’ll be the traditional GAMES: water balloon toss, 3-legged race, Monte Nido’s famously contested egg toss, lawn games, and more.
It's all such good old-fashioned fun! There is no charge to attend and participate (never has been, never will be,) but it is not free…. The cost for hiring the CHP to assist with traffic control has tripled in recent years. We pay for insurance, porta-potties, and prizes. And, as we all know, even the price of eggs for tossing has skyrocketed. Raffle and bake sale proceeds offset some of the expense, MNVCA annual dues allow us to cover the rest. If you haven’t already done so this year, please, consider joining. Only $75 (payment info is on montenido.org.) It’s the easiest way to contribute to your community. 😊
