Annual Events
Square Dance & BBQ (Autumn)
The MNVCA started the annual Square Dance + BBQ decades ago as a pot luck with home-cooked meals, piles of baked beans, and a sprite caller named Wayne Simpson. Joan Slimocosky, MNVCA Vice President, for many years, handled the development and organization, and the event grew to what it is today.
July 4th Parade & Picnic (Summer)
Each year the Monte Nido community gathers to celebrate July 4th with a themed parade and picnic. Residents create DIY parade floats and gather at the BYOB picnic to play games and get to know their neighbors.
Dark Sky Week (Spring)
Every year Monte Nido participates in International Dark Sky Week, an international movement, held during the week of the new moon in April, with the goal to raise awareness around the harms and realities of light pollution and promote the preservation of dark skies whenever and wherever possible.
