Join SAMO Fund as they officially kick off our Milkweed Restoration project for Fall 2023 in Newbury Park ! This family-friendly day includes a bunch of fun activities, including seed bomb making stations, native plant-themed face painting, and installing over 3000 native milkweeds into a local meadow. Arrive anytime between 8am and 9:30am for best experience and to enjoy all activities, but even an hour of your time is appreciated. Activities include:
(8:30am - 12 noon) - Installing Milkweed into a local meadow
(8 am - 12 noon) - Native Plant Themed Face Painting
(9:30 am - 12 noon) - Seed Bomb Making Stations, take them home to grow!
(10:30am) - Milkweed Talk and Pollinator Plant Giveaway
(11:30am) - Seed Collecting Mini-Workshop
The unique restoration site is home to a young native oak woodland, along with milkweed visited by monarch butterflies and various other native plants used by dozens of local birds, insects and other wildlife. This activity is appropriate for ages 5 and up. Milkweed Restoration Season is here!
The event will run from 8am - 12 noon .
Please bring water, sunscreen and a sun hat. Wear hiking attire, closed toe shoes and pants and long-sleeved shirt are recommended. Gloves and tools will be provided.

This will take you to a vacant parking area along Potrero Road, where signage will show you where to park and direct you on a short 5 minute walk to the restoration area.
