Fire-Resilient Gardens: A Maintenance Walk and Talk with Erik Blank.

Wildfire is an inherent part of life in Southern California. Learn how garden design and maintenance can help protect homes in high-risk fire areas.

This program introduces basic maintenance techniques for a new reality: wildfires. Discover essential tips tailored for your native garden and home. Join us for an immersive walk and talk, where you'll uncover the when, why, and how behind cultivating a garden that is resilient to fire.

This class will be held indoors and outdoors in our demonstration gardens. We ask guests to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants, and to prepare for up to one hour of walking on uneven surfaces. Water bottles and sun protection are strongly encouraged.

Erik Blank is a long-time California native plant enthusiast with professional experience in restoration, installation and maintenance. He joined the TPF staff in June of 2020 working in Horticulture and Education.
